He plays a Hagstrom 12-string. She plays an Oscar Schmidt autoharp. The Hagstrom-Schmidt Affair is a new album that celebrates the sound of these two instruments, as well as Libby & Cal’s vocal harmonies. Twelve original songs run the emotional gamut. Tunes After Noon host Greg Kelly calls them, “So funny and sad and deep and shallow… and great!”
Libby & Cal have previously released two albums: Our Lady of Perpetual Hammer (2021) and If You’ve Given Up on Love Then Let’s Call it Something Else (2022). The Hagstrom-Schmidt Affair was recorded at Stove Studios in Chelsea with James Stephens, who has worked with many talented musicians, such as Lynn Miles, Ian Tamblyn, and Kate Weekes. Libby & Cal are joined on this album by Rob Snasdell-Taylor on bass, James Clugston on drums, and Glenna Hunter on cello.
In concert they will be joined by James and Glenna.

Join us for a joyful jaunt to where land meets sea, and where stirring songs ring out over the waters. Atlantic Voices presents Shorelines, a musical tour of the harbours, bays, coves, capes, and riverbanks of the Atlantic provinces—with side trips to a few more distant shores.

We will present Labrador Inuk songwriter Deantha Edmunds’ moving Song of the River, which imagines her people’s history as a river running through the ages. Writers’ Bloc
Hosted by Christophe Elie
Usually last Sunday of the month (September to June) at 1:00 pm
Moose McGuire’s
3320 McCarthy Road, Ottawa
Writers’ Bloc is a monthly gathering for songwriters to share songs they’re working on with a supportive group of other songwriters. This is an inclusive group and is open to songwriters at any level, even those just getting started. We also have a new topic we discuss each week related to songwriting, from the hook, to melody, to the tools of songwriting. Each month we begin with an inspiring discussion. Hope to see you there.
Email Christophe Elie at christophe@chriselie.com to get on the mailing list for the monthly invitation.
